Archiving Excess is an open ended platform for you to consider the relationships you have to your material (or perhaps immaterial) possessions. As a platform, it is important to note that Platform Projects considers all submissions as part of a dynamic collection that is owned by no one person or organization in particular. As facilitators of this archive, we choose to accentuate the notion of 'possessivelessness' to assure that the aim of the project is not simply to collect materials, but to provide a considerate observation of our collective relationship to our material culture.

As the archive continues indefinitely, its future depends primarily on the dialogue that accompanies it. Known for open-ended projects, our hope is that this particular project takes on a life of its own and through continual response enters into a space for critical collective transformation.
